Push Yourself to Come Through

Good morning & happy Mugs Monday! I would to have some real talk with you this morning. Are you in a comfy chair? Have you got your coffee in hand? If not, go get it! We’ll wait……

….. So let’s talk about an epiphany moment I had in a recent spin class. Katie, the Studio Manager at Cyclebar South Tampa (pictured with me in the gif below) reached out to Boss Babe Club to collaborate in the future & there’s almost nothing that I love more than collaboration. I was invited to take a class. Much to my own surprise, I chose a 7 a.m. class on a Tuesday morning. I’m not a big morning person, but I figured it would be a good way to break my routine.

At Cyclebar South Tampa I focused on much more than RPM.

At Cyclebar South Tampa I focused on much more than RPM.

It was my second spin class experience ever. The music was great. I liked wearing the clip-in sneakers. The staff, Katie & Brooke were so friendly & helpful. But what struck me the most were the words that I needed to hear from the instructor, Dani R. She said so many motivational things, but what she said about a third into the class was truly epic: “Each time you turn that dial, you’re going to feel a change. Your job is to embrace that change & come through.” This was important for what I was doing in that very moment— because I could either meet my expectations (which were low because I haven’t been exercising regularly and didn’t expect much from myself than to finish the class) or I could exceed them and do better! I chose the latter because of her words. I turned the resistance dial farther than I had expected myself to do because I wanted to embrace change & come through. I pedaled harder because I wanted to embrace change & come through. And I pushed myself to complete the arm reps with their signature body bar weight because I wanted to embrace change & come through.

I want to continue to choose the latter in all areas of my life. I consider myself a do-er when it comes to my career, but I’m really more of a talker when it comes to my health & self care. And that realization over the weekend made me feel frustrated, because I’ve been lying to myself for a long time. I had convinced myself that I’m fine & that I don’t need to make any changes. But the truth is that neglecting parts of your self will catch up with you eventually. Boss Babe Club is all about living a creative, fulfilled life. I believe that crafting the career of your dreams is instrumental to having a happy heart & a more peaceful mind, but oh my goodness, so is having a healthy body and a healthy emotional state. Neglect one, and the rest will fall eventually. While you’re working through the parts of your life that need some T.L.C. and maintaining the parts of your life that come a bit easier to you, you might feel overwhelmed sometimes. Because it’s not easy. It’s going to be an ongoing journey, but it’s one worth having. Know this:

You are worthwhile. You are beautiful. You are kind. You are ambitious. You are loved. You are accomplishing your goals. You are living a creative, fulfilled life. You are embracing change. You will come through.

Sending you love & good vibes today and every day. Have an amazing week! And stay boss. xx
